The second book still has Will and Emma running from the two secret organizations, Vinco Potentia who wanted Emma and the Cavallo who has Jake her son and would like to see Emma killed. They must not only recover Jake, but also find out more about who Emma is in order to better understand what is going on as both Jake and Emma's powers evolve. Will is the Chosen One who is compelled to protect Emma at all costs and follow her orders. The fact he loves her and is the father of the baby she is carrying made me wonder if the love came from him was truly his and not from his marking. Some new characters are introduced with Raphael being the most mysterious who seems to know who Emma is and what is happening. Emma is unexpectedly drawn to Raphael sexually in a way that Will doesn't evoke in her. The answers to the questions that have been present since the beginning are revealed and there is a cliff hanger ending that goes right into the third book. The most negative part in this book is Emma who is whinny, crying and self serving except when it comes to her son Jake. She doesn't deserve Will's love and uses him through out the series. Having her constantly lying to him especially when it comes to Raphael and her insatiable attraction to him while Will risks his life to keep her safe was repugnant. There is a short story at the end that updates the reader on what transpired when Will came home from Iraq and gives more information on his background and relationship with his friend James. I find Will isn't a very good role model either trading people's lives for money and come to realize all the adult main characters are dubious in nature. 3 stars for Emma's weak portrayal, but still interested enough to read the third book to see if Emma and Will can redeem themselves.

Emma finally gets answers in this book, though not the ones she was looking for. Emma's journey to finding Jake seems to be one step forward, two steps back. Will eventually recruits the help of his lifelong friend, James. James and Emma have a rocky start and Emma's not sure she can trust him, especially after he sees her using her new found powers. Emma is as strong as ever in this captivating book which I just couldn't put down! I never thought I'd be a fan of Urban Fantasy!
I love this series, but I initially found Hunted lacking the spark of Chosen. That doesn't matter to me because it serves as a perfect transition for the series into a few short stories and two more novels. The story does pick up rather quickly, as there's a lot going on.

Emma was infuriating in this part of the story as well, but it's justified because of all the insanity she's dealing with. Her son taken by a mad man, she's traveling with a man she barely knows, two factions are hunting her down, and a creeper dude showing up when she least expects it wherever she goes. Try dealing with that yourself. Will's bestie, James, is pretty awesome. He seems like a typical insecure guy who talks a lot of crap. He'll get no hate from me.

Now let's talk about Raphael... I really liked him in my first read through even though I was sure he wasn't at all trustworthy. His creep factor was OFF THE CHARTS. But he also has this essence about him that's alluring. He's the perfect new character for the story. Right through the end. My opinion on him definitely changed by the end of the series, but here he's kind of wonderful. Unlike Alex.

Hunted is a great transitional novel and well worth the read. I love this series, so I'm obviously biased. ****4.5 STARS****
Wow is my head spinning! Grab a seat and hold on tight because you are in for a bit of a spin! I am just eager to start the next book in this series so that I can find out what happens next, but first I must say that so many things have come to light in this book! At the end of The Chosen I was a little confused about Jake, Will, and Emma, even this mysterious prophecy.

In this book Jake becomes more human and little boy like for me. I even began to feel sad for him and I wanted so much for him to be found by his Mommy. He shows a vulnerable side and it makes you want to reach in and wrap your arms around him until he feels safe. He is so confused about who to trust and who will have Emma's best interest at heart.

Emma begins to learn that she has real power and eventually makes the connection to her father. I was so mad about the way her mother treated her but very happy to meet a loving grandmother who was able to give her some insight into who her father was. Emma struggles a lot in this book! She knows that she loves Will but can't seem to shake the feeling that he is only there because of the mark on his arm. When she meets Raphael she is immediately drawn to him in her dreams and in every instance when he comes to her rescue. She is chased by two different groups in this this book and she is also hunted by her father Aiden. He come to find out has been holding all the cards! He has created a sick game among himself, Alex, and Raphael. Emma is the bait... the Hunted!

In the end she has to make a choice to save her son, herself, and Will. As a consequence to this choice she loses Will and Jake and possibly even her unborn baby! So many things are unknown for me that I need to dive right into the next book and hopefully sort some of this out!

My heart breaks for Will because even when he loses his mark it is clear that he is truly in love with her before his memories of her disappear! Not only does he lose her, he was absolutely betrayed by his best friend in the process! I would definitely recommend reading this book if you are into prophesies, gods, and the thrill of the hunt!
This series just keeps getting better and better. When I first started the series I had no idea what to expect having never read this author before. I can tell you that I was so glad the 2nd book was already out when I got done because I had to go straight to the next book! I did not want to wait until the next book came out. I am not a patient person and when something has hooked my interest, it's kind of hard not to be constantly immersed in it 24/7. Go get the first book of this series (It's FREE) and read it. What have you got to lose but a few hours of time?
